They were owned and operated by China Regal Cruises. This could be wrong but I heard that they were later seized by the банк and put up for auction due to CRC's inability to pay back the loan that was used to purchase these ships back in the early 90s. A businessman bought them and now operates them.

Here I want to address some concerns about these 3 ships' prospect on Yangtze
Not very optimistic about it I would say. You can tell by the fact that they didn't undergo annual maintenance last year hence all the rust and wore paint on the hull. I take that as a sign of something going down!! 'Made in Germany' still appeals to its customers and the build quality is indeed superb but we can't ignore the fact that they are aging and facing challenges from new ships. Put aside the competition, the ships themselves have some issues to match up the industry's standard today. Passengers are complaining about the tiny cabin and not enough entertaining venues onboard, the operator is complaining about the high operating cost(the ship often runs only on 1 engine to save the cost). I think the owner realized it too but thought it'd be too expensive to have a thorough renovation and that's something a ship lovers don't want to see either because it'd lose its original beauty. Anyway, it's good to see that they're all running. I wish them all the best because we all love them!!
